IKEA Hacker — torquing your flatpack

Cory Doctorow:
IKEA Hacker is full of sexy ideas for funking up your semi-disposable Swedish flatpack furniture. They say one in ten Europeans was conceived in an Ikea bed — I believe it. When I got to London, I discovered that buying furniture cost 10 or 15 times what I was used to, and that it could take 10 or 20 weeks to see your expensive stuff delivered. UKEA may be Swedish for “smudges easily,” but in every city I’ve ever lived, I’ve had a wall or two worth of Billy bookcases.

hack no. 2 from andrew, as promised. he took parts of an ikea hemnes daybed (can’t locate the link on ikea site) and turned it into a banquette! this has got to be the most ingenious hack i’ve received thus far.
stoic bunk bed turns into …
… sexy seating for two! wow!
